The Lubbock Symphony Orchestra will present "Opera's Greatest Arias" Saturday evening with guest artist Limmie Pulliam — described as a "dramatic" and "powerful" tenor — performing Verdi and Puccini arias.

This is the fifth and final concert in the symphony's keystone Masterworks Series for the 2023-24 season. LSO Maestro David Cho will conduct the orchestra in support of his friend Pulliam.

"Having studied together at Oberlin College, I am thrilled to welcome Limmie to Lubbock," Cho said. "He flawlessly embodies the character of Otello and is the perfect guest artist to conclude our 2023-24 Masterworks Series."

Pulliam made his Carnegie Hall debut last year at age 47, and he has also performed at the Metropolitan Opera and with symphonies and operas across the U.S.

Contemporaries Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini are considered to be the two greatest Italian opera composers of all time. Verdi (1813-1901) is known for popular works such as "Rigoletto," "La traviata" and "Aida." Puccini's famous operas include "La bohème," "Madama Butterfly" and "Turandot."

Tickets for Saturday's performance start at $25 and are available at lubbocksymphony.org/verdi or by calling 806-762-1688. The concert is sponsored by Liggett Law Group, P.C.
