Reneé Rapp and Towa Bird are going public with their relationship.

After hitting the road together for Rapp’s Snow Hard Feelings Tour, the duo made their red carpet debut as a couple at Vanity Fair’s Oscars afterparty on March 10.

The two were seen posing for photographers before cozying up inside, espresso martinis in hand.

Bird had previously gushed about working with Rapp to Euphoria Magazine, calling the "Tummy Hurts" singer "so authentically herself" and stating that she learned "so much" from her on tour.

Before Bird, Rapp was previously linked to TikToker Alissa Carrington, whom she dated for almost a year before confirming their split in February 2024.

Here’s everything to know about Bird.

She was born in Hong Kong

Bird was born on March 30, 1999, in Hong Kong to British and Filipino parents, though she lived in Thailand and London growing up, per NME.

During an interview with UCLA Radio, she noted that her family, who still lives in Hong Kong with her sister, has brought her joy during difficult moments.

“I’m Filipino so like, what has always been really important to my family and growing up is like,  a sense of community — whether that be through like, friends or family,” she told the publication. Despite the distance between them, Bird noted that she is “very grateful” whenever she is able to catch up with her family.

She almost didn’t pursue a career in music

Speaking with ESPN in May 2023, Bird revealed that her early life “primarily centered around sports” and she was even going to pursue an athletic career “professionally” before getting involved in music. However, after learning to play the guitar when she was 12, she noted that her life did a “full 180.”

Bird went on to study at Goldsmiths, University of London, but dropped out after two years to pursue a career in music full-time.

She went viral on TikTok for her music covers

Like many musicians, Bird was first discovered on TikTok. During COVID, she went viral on the social media app for her various music covers, gaining the attention of big stars in the process, including Billie Eilish and Tyler, The Creator.

She got her big break playing guitar for Olivia Rodrigo

After catching the eye of Olivia Rodrigo on TikTok, the “Brutal” singer reached out to Bird about playing guitar in her Disney+ documentary Driving Home 2 U, which followed her career since releasing “Drivers License” in 2021. That same year, Bird was signed to Interscope Records (the same record label behind Rodrigo).

“I went from making songs in my room in London to landing in LA and being on this massive production,” Bird told NME about working on the project. “I was like, ‘Wow: this is what life could be like for me.’”

She previously toured with Reneé Rapp

Before going public with their romance, Bird was the opening act on the U.S. and European leg of Rapp’s latest tour, which began in September 2023 in Houston and concluded in March 2024 in Dublin, Ireland.

During a conversation with Euphoria Magazine, Bird opened up about touring with Rapp and her second opening act, Alexander 23, noting how both musicians are “both great at their job and they love what they do.”

“I learned so much from them every day, in a real way," she said. "Reneé is so authentically herself. The persona doesn’t change… when she talks to me, she talks to me in the same way she addresses her fans.”

The duo also shared the stage in November 2023, when Rapp performed her single “Tummy Hurts” during Late Night with Seth Meyers.
