Reneé Rapp Brought Out 'Hero' Kesha for 'Your Love Is My Drug' Duet at NYC Show: 'The Greatest Night of My Life'

The pop star brought out the hitmaker at her Thursday night concert in Brooklyn

“The party don’t stop” at Reneé Rapp’s week of shows in New York City.

During her Thursday night concert, the pop singer, 23, surprised the crowd at Brooklyn’s Avant Gardner with a cover of Kesha’s hit “Your Love Is My Drug” — and brought out the star, 36, to assist her. Fans captured footage of the Rapp teaming up with the “Tik Tok” singer, whom she later called her “hero” and thanked for giving her "the greatest night of [her] life" with a sweet post on Instagram.

In videos recorded by audience members, the Gag Order artist came out on stage in the middle of Rapp’s performance — and her surprise appearance was welcomed with cheers.

The “Praying” singer — who complemented the Snow Angel artist’s all-black look by wearing a black leather tank, black jeans and a black leather jacket — joined on the second verse. The two alternated singing lines from the pop star’s 2010 breakthrough debut Animal, appearing to have a blast with one another by hyping up the crowd and dancing across the stage.

During the bridge, Rapp let Kesha take the lead, showing off her powerhouse vocals.

At the end of their duet, the “Too Well” singer shouted out her guest by saying, “Give it up for Kesha,” appearing as if she was overcome with emotion by covering her smile and collapsing over.

“Don’t you f---ing love this woman?” Kesha asked the crowd, visibly stunning Rapp, who had a huge smile on her face.

After the concert, Rapp took to Instagram to express what an “honor” it was to bring out her “hero.” Along with a clip of the performance and a series of photos of the two on stage, she wrote, “the first time I heard kesha was in the back seat of my cousins car when I was 9.”

“I remember hearing tiktok for the first time and thinking holy s--- what am I listening to. i can still see myself in the car freaking out and hearing my cousin say ‘this is kesha.. she is so f---ing cool,’” she continued.

Rapp revealed, “context; my cousin who is 10 years older than me is the only other gay girl in our family. everything she’s ever told me is cool is f---ing cool. i looked up to my cousin a lot for obvious reasons, so immediately kesha became my hero.”

The singer-songwriter then opened up about how much the hitmaker means to her. “having a woman in music to admire who was so daring and exciting made me feel like I could say what the f--- I wanted to say when I wanted to say it,” she wrote. “that meant everything to a 9 year old girl living in the south who would eventually be told countless times that she was too loud, too harsh, a hoe and not lady like. she changed the game for me.”

Rapp concluded, “kesha I love you and last night was the greatest night of my life. I will never get over seeing you for the first time off stage right listening to tummy hurts. you are everything to me. what a f---ing honor.”

Kesha will play N.Y.C.'s Hammerstein Ballroom on Friday and Saturday nights.

Kesha wasn’t the only surprise guest Rapp brought out during her string of dates in NYC on her Snow Hard Feelings Tour in support of her debut album Snow Angel, which dropped in August.

During her Monday night concert at Terminal 5, the former Sex Lives of College Girls actress brought out singer-songwriter Lizzy McAlpine and the two celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Broadway hit musical Wicked with a duet of “For Good.”

On Tuesday, to celebrate Halloween, the singer/actress dressed up as Justin Bieber at her Kings Theatre show and covered “One Less Lonely Girl” — bringing The Summer I Turned Pretty star Lola Tung up on stage for a serenade.

The upcoming star of the Mean Girls movie-musical will wrap up the North American leg of her tour after one final N.Y.C. performance on Friday. In early 2024, she’ll take her show to the U.K. and Europe.
