A ghost from Ned Quartermaine’s past is headed back to Port Charles.

Daytime Emmy winner Rena Sofer is returning to ABC’s General Hospital, reprising her role as Lois Cerullo after a 26-year absence, People reports.

Lois’ return comes as ex-husband Ned (played by Sofer’s real-life ex-hubby Wally Kurth) deals with a bout of amnesia. He’s convinced that he’s Eddie Maine, his rock-star alter ego from the ’90s. (Understandably, it’s a huge headache for Ned’s current wife, Olivia.)

As longtime GH fans will recall, Lois initially took a liking to Eddie, unaware of his true identity. The pair wed in 1995, but the honeymoon phase ended once Lois found out that Ned was also married to Mary Beth Evans’ Katherine Bell. (It was a whole thing… don’t ask!) Ned eventually won back (and remarried) Lois, but the on-again/off-again couple divorced a second time when Ned chose his family (and their fortune) over her.

Afterward, Lois skipped town and gave birth to their daughter, Brook Lynn, who’s currently portrayed by Amanda Setton.

Lois resurfaced seven years later, when she was played by Lesli Kay. The character was last seen in 2005.

Sofer filmed her first scenes last week, and is expected on screen as early as October. Her return comes after a nine-year stint as The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Quinn Fuller; she departed the CBS daytime drama in 2022.
