Renée Zellweger beautifully channels icon Judy Garland in the movie “Judy.” The actress doesn’t just look like her, she sounds like her. That’s right, Zellweger sings in the film! She told Yahoo Entertainment what it was like to get into character and portray the Hollywood legend. “It was just a process of experimentation,” Zellweger said. “We just started trying things from the beginning, try this song with this music.”
Music was a big part of Garland’s life. One of her most memorable songs is “Over the Rainbow” from the 1939 movie “The Wizard of Oz.” Zellweger lent her voice to this tune as well as “Come Rain or Come Shine" and "Get Happy." The actress jokingly said, “If I could have gotten out of it, I would have.” But Zellweger embraced every aspect of the role: “The way that she sang, there was a method.”
Garland died of an accidental drug overdose in 1969 when she was only 47.
