Remi Wolf is giving fans a two-song taste of her soulful and diverse new album, Big Ideas, out July 12. On Friday, the musician released singles “Toro” and “Alone in Miami,” two tracks she wrote in the same week in the studio.

“In my mind, they have always been intended to be listened to back to back,” Wolf said in a press release. “I wrote both songs with my friends Ethan Gruska and Jack Demeo in LA in between tours in early 2022.”

“To be frank, ‘Toro’ is a song about having sex in a hotel, and ‘Alone in Miami’ is a song about the week I spent alone in Miami during Art Basel – and is quite literally a detailed and accurate description of what happened while I was there,” she added. “These two songs showcase the sonic breadth of this album – and you can’t put me into a box bitch so don’t even try.”

Wolf recalled the Miami trip she sings about on “Alone in Miami” in an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year. “It’s like there’s cocaine everywhere, and I’m out there meeting people that I’ve never met before and making new friends,” she said at the time. “But it’s all under this kind of psychotic, manic, cocaine fever dream.”

Wolf shared that she’s been partying since she was 18 and feels that she’s mostly gotten it out of her system in the past decade. “There’s still a beast inside me that wants to rage, but it’s more tame,” she said at the time.

“Toro” and “Alone in Miami” follow the release of the album’s lead single “Cinderella.” Wolf’s last album came in 2021 with Juno, which featured songs like “Liquor Store,” “Sexy Villain,” and “Anthony Kiedis.” Wolf is currently on the road in Europe with Olivia Rodrigo as a special guest on the Guts world tour.
