Ludacris and Ryan Phillippe in 'Crash'

The 2004 film "Crash" is an Oscar-winning urban drama set in Los Angeles that touched on stereotypes through a racially diverse cast of characters who swerve in and out of one another's lives.

In "Crash," Ludacris plays a young Black carjacker who uses the race card for both personal gain and as an excuse.

Ryan Phillippe plays a cop whose older partner (Matt Dillon) pulls over an SUV driven by a Black married couple (Terrence Howard and Thandie Newton). The wife is molested during the pat down, while Phillippe's character is disgusted by his partner, but does nothing.

'Crash' stars includes Don Cheadle, Sandra Bullock

Several other stars were cast in "Crash" including Don Cheadle, Sandra Bullock, Terrence Howard, Brendan Fraser, Matt Dillon, William Fichtner and Thandie Newton.

Although "Crash" won three Academy Awards, the film is divisive. Some critics praised the way it highlighted racist stereotypes, while some movie lovers criticized the characters as being caricatures.
