The remains of a woman found in a Los Angeles dumpster in November have been identified as those belonging to the wife of the suspect accused of murdering her and her parents, according to multiple reports.

The body of Mei Haskell was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, according to online records, which lists her place of death in a parking lot and her date of death as Nov. 8, the day a torso was found inside a dumpster in Encino. At the time, police said they believed the torso was hers.

NBC Los Angeles, KTLA and CBS News all reported that the medical examiner’s office confirmed that the torso was Haskell's.

Samuel "Sam" Haskell IV, 35, is accused of killing his wife, 37, and her parents, Gaoshan Li, 72, and Yanxiang Wang, 64, who were last seen Nov. 6, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office previously said.

The bodies of Li and Wang have not yet been found.

Authorities allege that Sam hired day laborers on Nov. 7 to dispose of four large trash bags. One of the laborers opened a bag that contained body parts, authorities claim. The next day, the district attorney’s office says, Sam was allegedly observed disposing of another trash bag that was later found to have a human torso in it.

Together, Sam and Mei had three sons. The news came as a complete shock to the quiet neighborhood of Tarzana, where the family had lived since 2020.

“[Mei] was always available at the drop of a hat,” next-door neighbor Elle Benami told PEOPLE in November. “And she was so dedicated to her kids."
