I’m finally packing smarter

If I’ve learned anything from flying on a plane several times a year, it’s that the more I can squeeze into my carry-on suitcase, the happier I am.

Not only do I save time by skipping having to wait for a checked bag to come off the carousel, but I can fit way more items in my carry-on bag thanks to one clever hack. I started using the Bagsmart Compression Packing Cubes (which are just $7 apiece at Amazon) last year, and I haven’t been able to pack any other way since.

The clever packing cubes come in a pack of six, complete with three sizes: small, medium, and large. I rely on the smallest bags for underwear, bras, and tees, the medium for bigger blouses and trousers, and the largest for my bulkiest items, like jeans and sweatshirts. It even comes with a handy laundry bag, so I can store my dirty items away from the rest of my clothes.

I like these packing cubes because of their sealing compression design. Once I finish packing, I zip each one closed, which pushes out extra air and creates more space. Each packing cube has a useful handle, so I can carry or easily move the cube from place to place. Plus, once I fill up the packing cubes and place them in my suitcase, I’m still left with extra space to pack — or leave empty if I’m looking to bring souvenirs home.

I’m hardly the only one who’s a fan of these cubes; over 2,000 Amazon shoppers added them to their cart in the past month, and they’ve picked up more than 6,200 perfect ratings. Users express that they’re an “absolute must-have” for anyone who “wants to pack smarter.” Another added: “These compressed really well as you use the zipper on them.”

“There’s no going back after getting these,” one five-star reviewer explained. “It makes everything so organized.” They finished off by saying: “The compression feature allows you to pack everything really nicely in your luggage with some bonus space savings.”
