‘Rehab Addict’ Star Nicole Curtis Fights to Save Her Homes in Battle with Ex-Lawyers
HGTV’s “Rehab Addict” star Nicole Curtis is defending herself in the lawsuit brought by her former lawyers and claims the attempt to foreclose on her homes might be illegal.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Curtis is asking the judge to vacate the default judgment, which called for Curtis’ Michigan homes to be sold off at auction to cover an alleged $32k unpaid bill.
In her filing, Curtis says she was not properly served with the lawsuit and the moment she found out about it, she immediately jumped into action.
She says her former lawyers worked on her “run of the mill” family law case for five months. Curtis says they never had a written contract and claims she was lead to believe the legal costs were going to be much lower than what she was billed.
Curtis says her former lawyers placing liens against her home over an alleged unpaid bill is possibly illegal and calls into question the ethical and legal issues about an attorney going after a client like this.
She believes she may have been charged for duplicate services and says she paid over $20,000 and did object to invoices sent to her.
The case is ongoing.
As The Blast first reported, Nicole Curtis was originally sued by the law firm Schnelz Wells P.C., claiming she has refused to pay up on a $31,976.96 bill relating to the legal battle with her baby daddy.
