It probably seemed like a good idea.

Reggaetoneros Feid and Yandel gave a surprise concert from a boat at peak rush hour on Miami Tuesday to promote their new collab, “Brickell,” but things didn’t exactly go according to plan.

The “impromptu” live performance, though not officially announced, was teased on their social media channels so fans knew to come out to the Miami Circle.

Video posted to Only in Dade show hundreds of people who had gathered to listen to the music stars. They started their show in front of the Icon Brickell on the Miami River at around 5:30 p.m. and then headed toward the Brickell Avenue Bridge.

Rolling Stone has a picture of the guys grinning from the deck, with American Social restaurant and a caravan of boats in the background.

But almost immediately, the cops were out in force to shut things down.

“Unfortunately, the maritime police patrol asked us please not to continue because traffic was too congested,” Andy Martínez, Yandel’s manager, told Billboard en Español. He added they obtained all the necessary permits, and everything was on time and “orderly.”

Michael Vega, spokesman for the City of Miami Police Department, told the Miami Herald that the duo didn’t actually go through the proper channels, and didn’t have a permit for a pop-up concert.

Additionally, no one in the city or police was notified nor were any police or security hired to address crowds, said Vega.

“We love our local artists in Miami and we would love to work with them, but they must go about it the right way,” the officer concluded, adding the performance was halted “to prevent chaos.”

Feid and Yandel recently released a joint EP called “Manifesting.” Martinez said they wanted to play the whole album for the 305 crowd on Tuesday but only got through three songs.
