Red, White and Blue Airshow: Saluting America's Heroes offers amazing acts and family fun

A thrilling air show is coming to the skies above Monroe.

The Chennault Foundation and the Southern Heritage Air Foundation is hosting the Red, White and Blue Airshow: Saluting America's Heroes at the Monroe Regional Airport on Friday and Saturday. The gates open 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.

The two-day air show will include local and national acts, such as the U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper Demo Team, the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, Hall of Fame Inductees Aeroshell Aerobatic Team and Jelly Bean, and Red Bull Team Racer Kevin Coleman.

North Louisiana has a long history in aviation. The Chennault Museum honors veterans and soldiers from World War II to the Iraq War, and is named after famed WWII Flying Tigers leader General Claire Chennault.

"We want to bring that saluting these heroes, first responders, the people that sacrifice for our country every day to a show that celebrate that," Boudreaux said.

The show will feature static displays, food trucks, a kids zone, antique car show and a display of military vehicles. Chennault Day will make a return 8 a.m. to noon Friday with Discovery Flights given by Dave Air.

"The shows are filled acts that will amaze you," Boudreaux said. "We have statics that will be on the ground for touring so we have a C-17, several helicopters and World War II planes. We have Echo, which is a virtual reality truck that kids can play in. On Friday and Saturday, we'll have vendors to keep everybody hydrated and full. It's just going to be, for both days, hours of entertainment."

Proceeds from the air show will support military veterans through the Chennault Museum and the Southern Heritage Air Foundation. Ticket prices for the Friday Twilight Show are $35 for general admission and $100 for VIP. On Saturday, ticket prices will be $20 for adults, $10 for ages 4 to 12 and military.
