Red Light Ramen is back for a pop-up at 2A Wine Merchants

Exciting news! Red Light Ramen is back ... for one day, at least, during a pop-up event at 2A Wine Merchants, 577 E. Erie St.

The pop-up will begin at noon Feb. 4, running until 3 p.m. or until sold out. Ramen will be available first-come, first-served, so get there early to ensure your Red Light fix is satiated before the noodles run out.

Red Light Ramen, the popular ramen shop owned by Ardent chef and owner Justin Carlisle, closed in July 2023 after almost 10 years of business.

There will be two types of ramen available: pork belly tonkotsu and mushroom miso. Both were once staples of Red Light Ramen’s menu.

Aside from the ramen special, the Ramen and Riesling pop-up event will also feature by-the-glass wine pours of Riesling and Lambrusco to pair with the ramen.

Rob Levin, owner of 2A Wine Merchants, considers riesling the perfect wine to pair with ramen. The wine shop will be serving Peter Lauer Barrel X riesling, an off-dry, mineral-driven riesling with racing acidity from German producer Peter Lauer.

The other wine special is Cleto Chiarli’s “vigneto cialdini” Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro doc brut. Levin said the Lambrusco is in the dry range with a slight sweetness with a medium body and light fizz.
