Yoo’s character, Jang Kyun, is described as a “clever and driven South Korean NIS agent, highly skilled with a subversive sense of humor and willing to go to any lengths to protect those he cares about.”

Additionally, the following nine cast members have been added to Season 2 in recurring roles:

* James Purefoy (The Following) as Oliver Bonner-Jones, a charming, rich, British businessman who lives in a world between legal and illegal

* Felix Solis (The Rookie: Feds) as Tom Wallace, a senior diplomat in the State Department tasked with bringing American hostages home

* Young-Ah Kim (One Ordinary Day) as Grace, a savvy senior intelligence officer and single mother who is under increasing pressure to discover what the CIA is up to in her country

* Do Hyun Shin (The Banker) as Yoo Jin Lee, a free-spirited young woman with a childhood connection to Owen

* Sanghee Lee (All of Us Are Dead) as Nan Hee, a passionate and nurturing Korean aide worker with a sly sense of humor

* Omar Maskati (Good Sam) as Jae King, a jet-setting rich kid with a charming and affable personality

* Brooke Smith (Grey’s Anatomy) as Marcy Potter, a seasoned and serious CIA Counter Espionage Group officer leading a crucial investigation

* Devika Bhise (The Rookie: Feds) as Juno Marsh, an eager CIA Counter Espionage Group officer whose buttoned-up persona masks a bit of a wild side

* Alana Hawley Purvis (Charmed) as Amanda Fern, a stern and by-the-book CIA Station Chief in Seoul who is resistant to taking any instruction from a CIA operative

According to Netflix, the show’s second season finds Owen “pulled into a life-threatening espionage situation in South Korea, only to realize that the bigger threat just might be coming from inside the Agency.”

A return date for The Recruit, which dropped its eight-episode first season in December 2022, has not yet been announced, but production has officially begun in Vancouver. The sophomore run will also film in Seoul.
