Reba McEntire, Post Malone, Andra Day to Perform at Super Bowl

Reba McEntire, Post Malone and Andra Day are heading to the Super Bowl.

The NFL and Roc Nation announced Thursday that the country music legend will perform “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Feb. 11 game, airing live on CBS from Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. Post Malone, the singer-songwriter who has performed across various genres like rap, rock, pop and more, will perform “America the Beautiful,” while Grammy-winning R&B singer and Oscar-nominated actress Andra Day will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

R&B superstar Usher will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show. He last performed at the Super Bowl in 2011, when he made a special appearance during the Black Eyed Peas’ set.

The pregame entertainment and halftime show will also feature American Sign Language performances. Coda actor Daniel Durant will perform the national anthem in ASL; actress, model and dancer Anjel Piñero will sign “America the Beautiful”; and actor and choreographer Shaheem Sanchez will sign “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Sanchez will also perform the ASL rendition of the halftime show.

The national anthem and “Lift Every Voice and Sing” will be produced and arranged by Emmy-winning musical director Adam Blackstone.

Rihanna headlined last year’s Super Bowl halftime show, and preshow performers included Chris Stapleton, Babyface and Sheryl Lee Ralph. The special event earned five Emmy nominations, winning two: outstanding production design for a variety special and outstanding directing for a variety special. The latter won Jay-Z his second Primetime Emmy, since he co-directed the halftime show alongside Hamish Hamilton, making the mogul one of the rare Black creators to win a directing Emmy.

Jay-Z, who has executive produced the halftime show since 2020, won the outstanding variety special (live) Emmy in 2022 for the hip-hop heavy halftime show featuring Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar. All of the performers also won the Emmy, along with executive producer Jesse Collins.
