Reba McEntire got a mammogram the morning after performing at the CMAs
How does Reba McEntire recover from the CMA Awards? With a mammogram, of course.
The singer took to Instagram to share her whereabouts on Thursday after performing at the Nashville awards show, and fans were pleasantly surprised. While many attendees were probably in bed recovering from after parties or celebrating their win at brunch, the country singer was keeping an eye on her health by getting screened for breast cancer the following morning.
McEntire posted a photo of herself in a hospital robe with the caption, “From the CMA awards to going to get my mammogram the next morning. Taking care of business and my health! #mammogramssavelives.” She was posing in front of the machine that performs the X-ray.

Fans applauded her dedication to her health, and for raising awareness of breast cancer and the importance of preventative care. “Thanks for making more people aware,” a breast cancer survivor responded. “Good for you and keeping your health up. Your looking great young lady” wrote a fan. “Great job! We all have to be our own health care advocates! Love the hashtag!” gushed another. “Thank you for showcasing this. My mom was diagnosed and a survivor because of early detection! Thank Reba and you are my hero!”
McEntire’s candour inspired others to discuss their own battles with breast cancer. “[T]hank you for posting this! It’s so refreshing to see people we adore and admire sharing such personal moments. My cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 28 but unfortunately passed away a couple years ago at 34. You’re a good woman Reba xo,” wrote one fan. “Right on Reba, I lost My Mother @ The Tender age of 42 because of Mastitis Breast Cancer & Inflammatory Carcinoma. So it’s Verrrry Verrrry important that We do Our Mamo’s. U still be lookin’ Great as well. I have Loved U from Waaaaaay back. Lol it was Great seeing U @ The CMA’s,” another revealed. “So glad u did!!! I am going through treatment for breast cancer and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I waited to long.”
McEntire motivated some to go out and make their own appointments, while others shared about their upcoming visits. “[G]ood for you. I am 30, just found out I am BRCA2 positive and I have been putting my mammogram off. You’re the inspiration I need to go get it done,” someone shared. “Good going for mine this month too ouch,” one follower wrote. “Getting mine today! 3D Mammogram,” another shared. “Thank you for the reminder!” wrote a third. “Getting mine done this morning.”
