Berry isn’t afraid to tell it like it is, and during her recent talk on Capital Hill, she shouted from the rooftops that she has menopause, and that’s okay!

During her speech, Berry screamed, “I’m in menopause, OK?”

She added, via Hello magazine, “The shame has to be taken out of menopause. We have to talk about this very normal part of our life that happens. Our doctors can’t even say the word to us, let alone walk us through the journey.”

She marched and did this to help the legislation gain a $275 million investment. This legislation would help menopause-related initiatives. Per Maggie Hassan’s websire, this legislation would help expand federal research on menopause, provide more education on the matter, and overall help with how the public handles menopause.

Now, in case you didn’t know, Berry’s biggest priority isn’t making another beloved film; it’s about destigmatizing menopause.

In Dec 2023, she spoke to Capitol Hill about menopause legislation, and previously did an interview with Cory Booker about this issue.

“Every woman, if you live long enough, will go through menopause. And most women spend the longest period of their life in their pre-menopausal or menopausal years, like three decades,” Berry said. “..I’ve gotten involved to try to de-stigmatize it, to let us understand that when we reach this time in our life, these are our best years. So to think that we should pack it up or we should not pay attention to all of the things that are going on with our body, I think is a, is a real problem. And that’s what most women do.”

Along with that, she’s worked with respin to help destigmatize menopause and has been an advocate for this for so long.
