Need a reason to get on new app Threads? Jack Harlow is there. See his first post.

"F--- it I'm here."

Jack Harlow's first post on Meta's Threads echoed the sentiment of many users making the migration from Twitter.

The Louisville-native rapper made waves on Instagram's new text companion as one of the only Kentucky celebrities active on the platform, logging on Wednesday evening, the first day.

By Thursday morning, Meta leader Mark Zuckerberg posted on the app that over 30 million users had signed up for Threads already. The app's debut characterized the race to steal market share in tech as Twitter continues to suffer from the tinkering of new owner Elon Musk.

In typical Harlow fashion, he baptized the app with some bars of his own:

By Thursday afternoon, Harlow's antics on Threads had calmed down considerably, acknowledging the usual shenanigans the 25-year-old is now known for, both virtually and in person.

"Feeling much more mature today. Not in the mood for any silly s---. Thanks"

Perhaps he felt he needed to make a splash considering fellow Louisville-bred celebrity and star of "The Hunger Games" trilogy Jennifer Lawrence didn't know he hailed from the Derby City.

In an interview with YouTube star Amelia Dimoldenberg on a June 30 episode of her witty web series "Chicken Shop Date," Lawrence was shocked when she was told Harlow shared a hometown with her.

"There's no way Jack Harlow's from Louisville," Lawrence said in disbelief.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has both his official government and campaign handles on the app, but neither has a profile picture or any activity yet. Users can transfer over their logins and account information from an existing Instagram account, which Beshear has at both handles.

What is Threads?

This photo illustration created in Washington, DC, on July 5, 2023, shows Threads, an Instagram app, on the App Store, in front of the logos of Instagram and Threads. Facebook owner Meta's new Threads app, meant to compete with Twitter, was available for pre-order on mobile app stores on iPhone and Android operating systems on July 5, 2023. Listed as "Threads, an Instagram app," the new program should be available in the coming days, and is described on Apple's app store as "Instagram's text-based conversation app."

Threads is essentially a text-based version of Instagram. It uses your Instagram username and automatically follows the same people you already follow on your Instagram account. You can customize your profile for Threads.

You log in using your Instagram account. Posts can be up to 500 characters long and can include links, photos and videos up to 5 minutes in length.

How to download Threads?

Threads can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play.
