Real Housewives of New Jersey's Teresa Giudice Confronts Overdue Taxes Head-On as Lawyer Says She and Husband Joe 'Have Successfully Negotiated a Repayment Schedule'

Teresa Giudice is settling her accounts.

After news that a New Jersey judge reopened bankruptcy proceedings for Giudice and her husband, Joe, both 44, last week, the Guidices' lawyer tells PEOPLE the couple are making sure their finances – past, present and future – are on track.

"We have been in contact with the appropriate agencies regarding the outstanding tax liabilities and have successfully negotiated a repayment schedule that allows Ms. Giudice to make payments towards the past due amount and remain current with her existing tax obligations," attorney, James J. Leonard, Jr., tells PEOPLE.

Leonard adds, "Payments have already been made both towards the past due taxes and her anticipated 2016 tax liabilities, which are not due in full until April 15, 2017. All of the Giudices' taxes will be paid in full pursuant to the aforementioned agreements."

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star, 44, has been working to stabilize her family's life ever since she returned from a nearly yearlong stint in prison on Dec. 23. A few months later, Joe, 44, reported for his own 41-month sentence stemming from the same bankruptcy fraud charges that put his wife in federal corrections.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE this past January, Terea said she has plans for a more financially

"I want to make $40 million this year. I hope that happens – for real, I made a vision board," she told PEOPLE.

"I want to come out with my own yoga DVD tape, my own yoga line," she revealed. "If you put out what you want, sometimes you get it. Never say, 'I can't do that,' because then you're already bringing yourself down."

The Real Housewives of New Jersey returns to Bravo on July 10.
