Once in a while, global events occurring in real-time affect the lives of Real Housewives. Such has been the case for Caroline Stanbury. The Real Housewives of Dubai star is an expat living in the United Arab Emirates with her husband, Sergio Carrallo.

Basically, the couple has to follow the country’s restrictive social laws regarding surrogacy. However, a recent change in legislature has opened the door for Carolina and Sergio to expand their family.

Lifting the ban will “change a lot”

Prior, in the UAE, unmarried, non-Muslim couples were prohibited from using a surrogate. Recently, that ban has been lifted. Additionally, the act of involving a third-party female in the process of creating a child via surrogacy has been decriminalized.

Caroline spoke excitedly about the changes while at BravoCon 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She exclusively told The Messenger, “We have a baby boy on ice. He’s genetically perfect and ready to go. This might change a lot for us, actually.”

The Real Housewives of Dubai star has three children with ex-husband Cem Habib. Daughter Yasmine, 18, and twin sons Zac and Aaron, 13.

Caroline and Sergio wed in December 2021 in a lavish ceremony that was captured for the show. Their plans to have a child together was a challenge. Caroline shared her IVF journey and fertility struggles during Season 1 of RHODubai. Consequently, the good news is they were able to feeze one embryo.

Now, the changes in their adopted country have opened the door to use that embryo. Co-star Lesa Milan labeled it “a really, really big deal.” She added, “Dubai is one of those cities that’s constantly evolving. I think Dubai is definitely the future.”

Taleen Marie, who was cast for Real Housewives of Dubai Season 2, added, “It’s so progressive.” Also, “Just two years ago, you couldn’t even live with somebody if you weren’t married. It’s amazing.”
