Real Estate Announce New Album The Main Thing , Share New Song: Listen

Real Estate have announced their fifth album: The Main Thing is out February 28 via Domino. They’ve also released the album’s first single “Paper Cup,” which features Amelia Meath (of Sylvan Esso and Mountain Man). It arrives with a new music video starring an enormous guitar-spinning squirrel. Watch it happen below.

The Main Thing was performed in its entirety on Real Estate’s most recent tour. In November, Real Estate unveiled a signature wine called Reality Estates.

The new album is Real Estate’s first since 2017’s In Mind. At the end of 2017, the band revealed that Matt Mondanile was fired from Real Estate in 2016 because of his alleged mistreatment of women. They initially said in a statement that his departure was so he could focus on his Ducktails project.

Find out where Real Estate landed on Pitchfork’s “The 200 Best Albums of the 2010s.”
