Who Is Ray J's Estranged Wife? All About Princess Love

Ray J (born William Ray Norwood, Jr.) and his estranged wife Princess Love have had a tumultuous relationship.

The “Sexy Can I” singer and Love & Hip Hop: Miami star married in August 2016. Since then, the couple have filed for divorce four times, and have requested to dismiss these filings three times. In February 2024, Love filed for divorce again, marking the pair's fourth breakup.

Years prior, Love filed for divorce from Ray J for the first time in May 2020 (after she reportedly claimed to be filing in November 2019.) Their first public split came a few months after their second child, Epik Ray, was born in January 2020. Love and Ray J had already welcomed a daughter, Melody Love, in May 2018.

The reality star later filed for a dismissal in July 2020. Ray J then filed for divorce in September 2020, before calling it off in March 2021. The singer filed for divorce for a third time in October 2021. In March 2023, Ray J was granted a dismissal after hinting that the couple had reconciled in December 2022.

Although they have had an up-and-down relationship, Love did share some sentimental words about Ray J after their wedding. “I just love him to the point where it doesn’t matter what he does. He’s the only person I’ve ever been with that I couldn’t see myself without," she told PEOPLE at the time.

She was raised in Texas

Love was born in Oakland, California, but she was raised at least partially in Texas.

The reality star shared a since-deleted throwback photo on Instagram in January 2016 from high school, which she captioned, “#TBT LBJ High School Austin, Texas.”

She’s a foodie

Love has a passion for cooking, including an Instagram account dedicated to her creations, @prepwithprincess, where she shows off the dishes she likes to eat (and cook), including comfort food and desserts.

She whips up everything from Thai Chicken Curry to Tuscan Soup to Leche Flan.

She and Ray J share two children

After their August 2016 wedding, Ray J and Love started growing their family. The couple welcomed two children together: daughter Melody Love, in May 2018, and son Epik Ray, in January 2020.

Love described Melody in a since-deleted May 2022 Instagram birthday tribute. “Melody Love Norwood, watching you grow into the smartest, most polite, compassionate, adventurous little girl has been so amazing to experience," the mom-of-two wrote. "You are such a joy to be around and you make everyone so happy!”

The Deadly Getaway actress has also opened up about Epik's interests, including his passion for superheroes. Love shared a since-deleted birthday post on Instagram in January 2023 that featured her son dressed up in various costumes. “Happy 3rd Birthday to my superhero Epik Ray Norwood. I lovvveeee you forever and beyond ❤️," she wrote.

She’s proud of her heritage

After a follower asked about her heritage on X (formerly Twitter) in July 2018, Love confirmed that she is “Filipino and Black."

Love also shared a video that showed her daughter Melody learning to count in the Filipino language, Tagalog. The actress loves to cook Filipino dishes, too, like this Pancit dish she shared in February 2022.

She and Ray J have had a tumultuous relationship

The couple have filed for divorce a total of four times, with three former filings being eventually dismissed. Love filed for divorce again in February 2024.

At the time of their first filing in 2020, a rep told PEOPLE, "It's a very difficult time for both Princess and Ray J and we are asking that we just let them have their privacy as they work through and deal with this very trying situation."

Before their third reconciliation in 2023, it seemed Love and Ray J had patched up their relationship. At the time he shared a post on Instagram praising her Christmas decorating. Love echoed the sentiment when she posted a birthday tribute on Instagram to her estranged husband in January 2023.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best dad in the world @rayj The only thing you wanted for your birthday was to see our kids happy! These are just one of the reasons why we love you!!! Happppyyyyy Birthdayyyyyyy🎂,” she captioned the since-deleted post.

In February 2024, to announce their fourth filing, Love posted a lengthy explanation on Instagram.

“After much reflection, discussion, and counseling, we have come to the difficult realization that our paths have diverged, and it is in the best interest of both of us to part ways,” she wrote. “We want to reassure you that this decision was made thoughtfully and with mutual respect and consideration for each other’s well-being. While our relationship as spouses may be coming to an end, we remain committed to co-parenting our children and maintaining a positive and supportive family dynamic.”

She's a serious poker player

Love has found quite a bit of success as a poker player. In February 2024, she won the Celebrity Poker Tour Invitational II in Las Vegas. Two months prior, she made history as the first Black woman to advance into the top 45 of the World Poker Tour World Championship. The reality star eventually finished 40th in the competition.

"What an honor to play amongst the people I’ve been watching and studying," she wrote in a celebratory Instagram caption. "I’m even more inspired to work harder and push myself to be the best I can be!"

She and Ray J star on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop series

The couple share their life together on reality TV. Love and Ray J were featured on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood which aired for 6 seasons from 2014 to 2019. They also star on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Miami.

Beyond this drama-filled franchise, Ray J and Love also worked together on the 2020 Zeus show The Conversation where they attempted to repair their relationship with the help of a mediator.

She’s an actress and producer

In addition to starring on reality TV, Love also dipped her toes into the acting world for the films The Deadly Getaway (2022) and The Microchip that Ruined Halloween (2023).

Love was also listed as a producer for the Zeus reality dating series One Mo Chance and The Conversation.

The actress is also the owner of PRELLA Cosmetics, which sells makeup, beauty tools and eyelashes. She often models for the brand as well.
