Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey tried to slide into JuJu Smith-Schuster’s DMs to recruit him

The Baltimore Ravens have been a little quieter on the wide receiver front this offseason than many fans have been wanting. After entering free agency with the position being one of Baltimore’s priority needs, the team has focused on the offensive line and re-signing their own. That doesn’t mean the Ravens weren’t trying to lock up one of the top free-agent wide receivers, however.

According to Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, Baltimore was one of two teams that made a strong push to sign him. Per a previous report, the Ravens offered Smith-Schuster more money but he ultimately decided to stick with his current team, signing a one-year deal to return to the Steelers. In addition to more money, Baltimore used their roster to help recruit too.

In a Twitter exchange, cornerback Marlon Humphrey jokingly harangued Smith-Schuster for not responding to his direct messages. Smith-Schuster responded that he couldn’t find the time with Ravens’ coaches and players blowing up his phone.

While the Ravens couldn’t land Smith-Schuster, it’s clear they put their best foot forward. It also points to the team knowing and being willing to address their wide receiver problem, even if they’re being a little slower than fans would like.
