Ratings: ‘Supergirl’ Debut on CW Is Time Slot’s Most-Watched Show in 8 Years

“Supergirl” soared to heights not seen on the CW in six or eight years, depending which Nielsen measuring stick you want to use.

The network debut of the former CBS series ended up as CW’s most-watched show (3.024 million total viewers) in its time period in just about eight years — a “Gossip Girl” from December 1, 2008, was the last to do better. And in the key 18-49 demographic, “Supergirl’s” 1.1 rating was best in almost six years, when the new “90210” was still on the air.

While NBC topped Monday outright, its “Timeless” premiere numbers at 10 o’clock were certainly nothing historic — especially following “The Voice.”

Still, NBC was first in ratings with a 2.4 rating/8 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 9.6 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Voice” at 8 p.m. ET earned a 2.9/9 and 10.8 million viewers. “Timeless” at 10 debuted to a 1.5/5 and 6.5 million viewers.

CBS was second in ratings with a 1.9/6 and third in viewers with 8.3 million. “The Big Bang Theory” at 8 p.m. ET scored a 3.3/12 and 14.1 million viewers. At 8:30, “Kevin Can Wait” posted a 2.1/7 and 8.8 million viewers. At 9, “2 Broke Girls” had a 1.7/5 and 6.6 million viewers. A second episode at 9:30 got the same rating and share, but dipped to 6.2 million viewers.

ABC was third in ratings with a 1.4/5 and second in viewers with 8.5 million. “Dancing With the Stars” at 8 p.m. ET put up a 1.6/5 and 10.5 million viewers. At 10, “Conviction” received a 0.9/3 and 4.7 million viewers.

The CW and Telemundo tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.7/2. CW was fifth in total viewers with 1.9 million, Telemundo was sixth with 1.7 million.

For CW, “Supergirl’s” share was a 4. A rerun followed.
