Ratings: ‘Prison Break’ Premiere Tops Time Slot, Though Fox Settles for Third

Fox’s “Prison Break” return broke out in its 9 o’clock time slot, but the network settled for third on the night in broadcast’s key ratings demo.

CBS and NBC tied for first place among adults 18-49, with Leslie Moonves’ shows easily topping Tuesday’s total viewers. Fox fell behind ABC in that metric, finishing fourth.

“Prison Break” premiered to a 1.5 rating/5 share in the main demographic, with 3.8 million overall audience members.

CBS and NBC both had a 1.3/5 in the advertiser-coveted demo, according to preliminary numbers. CBS was first in total viewers with 11.1 million, NBC was second with 6.4 million.

For CBS, “NCIS” at 8 p.m. scored a 1.5/6 and 13.5 million viewers. At 9, “Bull” put up a 1.3/5 and 11 million viewers. “NCIS: New Orleans” at 10 got a 1.0/4 and 8.9 million viewers.

For NBC, “The Voice” at 8 earned a 1.9/7 and 9.3 million viewers. At 9, the first episode of “Trial & Error” had a 0.9/3 and 4.1 million viewers. At 9:30, a second half-hour got a 0.7/3 and 3.2 million viewers. “Chicago Fire” at 10 received a 1.3/5 and 6.1 million viewers.

Fox was third in ratings with a 1.2/4 and fourth in viewers with 2.9 million. The “New Girl” season finale at 8 had a 0.9/4 and 2 million viewers. At 8:30, “The Mick” got a 0.8/3 and 2.1 million viewers. “Prison Break” followed.

ABC was fourth in ratings with a 1.0/4 and third in viewers with 3.6 million. “The Middle” at 8 received a 1.3/6 and 5.3 million viewers. At 8:30, “American Housewife” had a 1.2/5 and 4.4 million viewers. “Fresh Off the Boat” at 9 got a 1.1/4 and 3.8 million viewers. “Imaginary Mary” at 9:30 closed to sitcom block to a 0.9/3 and 3.5 million viewers. “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” at 10 finished primetime with a 0.7/3 and 2.2 million viewers.

Univision and Telemundo tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.6/2. Univision was fifth in total viewers with 1.7 million, Telemundo was sixth with 1.4 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.5/2 and in viewers with 1.3 million. The “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” finale at 8 had a 0.6/2 and 1.5 million viewers. At 9, the “iZombie” season premiere managed a 0.4/1 and 979,000 viewers.
