Ratings: Glee Premieres OK, X Factor Dips

Glee got off to a decent start in its new Thursday timeslot, but it was off from its Season 3 premiere.

Season 4 bowed to 8.1 million viewers and a 3.3 rating in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, down from last year's 9.2 million and 4.0 on a Tuesday. Glee, however, was the top-rated show of the night, was up from its season finale numbers and built on The X Factor's lead-in (8.3 million viewers and a 3.1 in the demo). The reality series was down three-tenths from Wednesday's premiere.

Did Glee's new kids hit all the right notes?

Fox won the night in the demo, while NBC won in total viewers, thanks to America's Got Talent's season finale (10.5 million viewers, 2.4 rating). The two-hour episode was the series' lowest-rated finale ever, but it aired on a Thursday instead of its usual timeslot on Wednesdays. The season premiere of Rock Center with Brian Williams drew 6.02 million viewers and a 1.4 — a series high rating for a regular telecast.

Big Brother (5.7 million, 2.0), Wipeout (3.6 million, 1.1) and The Next (0.7 million, 0.2) were all down from last week.
