Ratings: Academy of Country Music Awards Slip Further From Rough 2016 Show

If the 2017 Academy of Country Music Awards were a genre song, it’d be a sad one about loss.

The CBS special slipped to a new record low rating in the key 18-49 demographic last night. On the bright side, its decline was not nearly as heavy as last year’s free fall, which came after 2015’s 50th anniversary show. Plus, CBS still won Sunday evening outright. NBC was a distant runner-up.

CBS was first in ratings with a 1.9 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 10.5 million, according to preliminary numbers. “60 Minutes” at 7 p.m. had a 1.1/5 and 9.3 million viewers. The ACM Awards at 8 averaged a 2.1/7 and 10.9 million viewers.
