Two years prior to Tupac Shakur’s fatal shooting in September 1996, the prolific impresario was shot five times and robbed in the lobby of Quad Studios in New York. Three decades later, video footage has surfaced online showing the legendary MC blasting the assailants who tried to kill him.

The video, recorded by renowned photographer, Ken Nahoum, shows a shirtless 2Pac boisterously sending a PSA to his shooters, gloating that “he’s still here” despite their attempt to end his life early.

“I just want to send another message out to the dudes that shot me. I’m still here,” he began. “All five bullets touched me but you couldn’t kill me, so all you did was just give me much more ambition, that much more drive to go forward.”

“You’re really not going to be able to stop me because I’m going to be unstoppable… my heart is strong, my drive is strong,” he continued. “I feel like God put his hands on me, so thanks to everybody who supported me. For the dudes that shot me, thanks, but no thanks. I’m still alive, you missed, I’m hard to kill.”

At Quad Studios on the night of Nov. 30, 1994, Pac was approached by three men who demanded money from him. Refusing to give it up, the beloved artist was shot twice in the head, twice in the groin, and once in the hand.

That very incident sparked a major feud between Pac and Notorious B.I.G., who he accused of setting up the robbery and happened to be recording music in the same building that night.

The single shooting is deemed the root that grew into the East Coast versus West Coast beef, although some would say VIBE unintentionally added fuel to the fire with ’96 rap covers: Live From Death Row, East vs. West—Biggie and Puffy Break Their Silence and others.

Unfortunately, Tupac was later killed in September 1996 by a drive-by shooting while leaving a fight at the MGM in Las Vegas. After decades of the case being unsolved, a Nevada grand jury indicted Duane “Keefe D” Davis on one count of murder with a deadly weapon last year, weeks after the anniversary of Tupac’s death.

Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney, Marc DiGiacomo, alleges that Davis was the “on-ground, on-site commander” who “ordered the death” of Tupac Shakur.
