Los Angeles county sheriffs arrested rapper YG at his mansion in Chatsworth, California, after he was linked to a robbery. However, the arrest is not expected to influence his appearance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, where he is expected as part of Grammy's tribute towards the late rapper, Nipsey Hussle. YG is set to perform along with Meek Mill and John Legend, among others.YG, officially known as Keenon Jackson, received a search warrant on Friday at 4 am. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, although he has been issued a $250,000 bail.
Speaking of the robbery, the arresting sheriffs alleged that investigations into the incident were ongoing. The rapper has since reached out to the celebrity lawyer Joe Tacopina. Some of Tacopina’s past clients have been Alex Rodriguez, Jay-Z, and Meek Mill.Addressing TMZ, Tacopina alleged that his client has no idea of the investigators’ allegations. He believed that they would not even get to the arraignment, noting that they had not provided any details on the matter. Tacopina was hopeful his client would be cleared of the charges.
The Game, a rapper, seemed to be in support with YG. He went ahead to tweet about the incident terming it funny that the rapper was getting arrested on the Grammys weekend, where he is expected to hit the stage in honor of Nipsey, who in 2019 received a moving tribute during the BET Awards. The Game further hash tagged LAPD, terming them the biggest gang. However, this is not the first run-in with the sheriffs for the rapper. In July, the sheriffs stormed YG’s leased home in Hollywood Hills. He had been linked to a shootout that involved the police in Compton.
Although the rapper was at the moment not home, the police alleged that YG’s Cadillac Escalade had been in a high-speed chase and the shootout had left a man, 65, dead. However, YG defended himself against the claims saying he was nowhere close to the scene. He alleged to have been in the studio the whole day, and had remained there until midnight. He learnt about the shootout after it had happened already. The police reported that the shooter, in a Cadillac Escalade, opened fire to a patrol car.
The assailants fired a couple of shots at the car during the 11:20 pm incidence. The pursuit for the car which ended in Inglewood, also involved a sheriff’s helicopter, at which they also fired. The sheriff’s deputy at Los Angeles noted that in some instances, the shots came from the passenger’s window. YG has yet another case swindling in court. He was in 2018 accused of snatching a chain from a fan’s neck, although he denied the charges.According to media reports, YG survived a shootout in 2015, where he escaped with three gunshot wounds.
