LeBron, Rihanna, Drake, and more react to rapper Nipsey Hussle’s death

Rapper Nipsey Hussle’s shocking death on Sunday has spurred an outpouring of condolences from celebrities, fans, and those closest to him.

The “Victory Lap” musician (née Ermias Asghedom) died after being shot on the street where his clothing store, the Marathon Clothing Company, is located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, NBC News, the Los Angeles Times, and TMZ reported, citing multiple law enforcement sources. Two other victims were involved in the shooting, authorities say.

He is survived by his two children and his girlfriend, Lauren London, who just gave birth to their son Kross in 2016.

“The subject responsible for the shooting fled in some type of vehicle, but I do not have the information of the type of vehicle he fled in,” a public information officer with the Los Angeles Police Department tells PEOPLE. The officer said that the South Bureau Homicide team is investigating the incident.

LeBron James, Rihanna, Chance the Rapper, and more of his famous colleagues, admirers, and fans have taken to social media to mourn the Los Angeles native.

“This doesn’t make any sense! My spirit is shaken by this! Dear God may His spirit Rest In Peace and May You grant divine comfort to all his loved ones I’m so sorry this happened to you,” Rihanna tweeted, along with a heartbreak and prayer emoji.

On Instagram, Drake commented, “F—. My whole energy is just at a low right now hearing this. We just linked for the first time in years and said we were gonna do a new song this summer cause it had been too long. You were having the best run and I was so happy watching from distance fam nobody ever talks down on your name you were a real one to your people and to the rest of us. I’m only doing this here cause I want the world to know I saw you as a man of respect and a don. Rest easy my g.”
