A Louisiana rapper has died after getting shot outside his home along with his father.

JayDaYoungan, 24, and a relative were both shot on Wednesday in front of a home in Bogalusa, Louisiana — about 70 miles north of New Orleans on the Mississippi state line — the Bogalusa Police Department announced in a press release.

The rapper, whose given name was Javorius Scott, was rushed to a hospital in “critical condition” where he died “as a result of his injuries,” according to police.

Police identified the relative as “close family member Kenyatta Scott Sr.“ and police say he is in “stable condition.” According to local outlet WDSU, Scott Sr. is the rapper’s father.

Then, while police were “working the crime scene,” another shooting took place nearby.

“In that case, a vehicle was shot, possibly related to the first shooting,” police stated. “The occupants were not hit. Detectives are also actively working that crime scene. This is a very fluid situation and the information we can release is limited at this time.”

They stated on Wednesday that “detectives are currently conducting interviews and working leads,” adding that further information will follow "as it becomes available.”

No suspects or persons of interest have been named and a motive is unclear at this point.

JayDaYoungan had a young son, who he posted a video of on Instagram just hours before the shooting.

The rapper landed a music deal with Atlantic Records in 2017 and released his debut album “23 Is Back” in June of 2021, The New York Post reports. His Instagram account has over 2.8 million followers.

Bogalusa is home to just under 12,000 people; as word of the rapper’s death spread, the town began reeling.

"The senseless shooting in Bogalusa another tragic reminder of the pain that violent crime brings with it,” Bogalusa Mayor Wendy Perrette said in a statement, according to WDSU. "First I ask that our residents remain calm while the police continue their investigation. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims family and friends.”
