The Suwanne Police Department arrested hip-hop artist GloRilla in Gwinnett County early Tuesday morning during a routine traffic stop.

The Memphis rapper, whose actual name is Gloria Woods, was booked and charged with driving under the influence, failure to obey traffic control device and consuming an open alcoholic beverage, according to police reports.

Police say Woods was in a 2023 black Mercedes-Benz Maybach on Peachtree Industrial Bouvelard when she made a U-turn at a red light, prompting the traffic stop. Woods told police she was going home from a venue in Atlanta.

“While speaking to Woods, I immediately noticed her eyes to be watery and bloodshot,” Suwanee officer Alexa Carrillo said in the incident report, which was provided by the Suwanee Police Department.

Carrillo wrote in her report that she could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, as well as the odor of alcohol on the rapper’s breath. Woods confirmed to police that she had been drinking that night but insisted that “it does not matter and she was good to drive.”

Woods refused to take a portable breath test and failed to realize that her right breast was visible, according to the police report. Carrillo said that was when she arrested the rapper on a charge of driving under the influence.

GloRilla refused breathalyzer in DUI arrest, cops say. Is that allowed in Georgia?

The Gwinnett Sheriff’s Office confirmed the rapper was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail early Tuesday Morning and was released on bond Wednesday morning.

GloRilla is scheduled to perform Saturday at the Atrium Health Amphitheater’s BoomBox Spring Fest in Macon, alongside rappers Boosie, MoneyBagg Yo and others.

As of Thursday, there was no indication if the rapper’s arrest will hinder her ability to perform Saturday. Her official web page still lists the music venue as her next stop.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
