The Rangers have traded F Pavel Buchnevich to the St. Louis Blues for F Sammy Blais and a 2022 second-round pick, the team confirmed Friday.

Buchnevich had been with the Rangers since 2013, when they drafted him in the third round as the 75th overall pick.

For his career in New York, Buchnevich appeared in 301 games starting in the 2016-2017 season. He scored 79 goals and assisted on 116 as a member of the Blueshirts.

This past season, Buchnevich had his highest average time on the ice, while putting in 20 goals (his second most in a season) and 28 assists. He had his first career hat trick against the Devils in April.

Blais comes to New York after four seasons in St. Louis. The 2014 sixth-round pick by the Blues has 17 goals and 18 assists to his name in 119 career NHL games -- including eight goals and seven assists this past season.
