Range Media Partners has signed Justin Piasecki, one of Variety’s 10 screenwriters to watch for 2023, for representation.

Piasecki broke onto the scene with his 2016 Academy Nicholl Fellowship winning script “Last Meals” (formerly “Death of An Ortolan”) which is slated to go into production soon, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Boyd Holbrook, with Morgan Freeman’s Revelations producing.

Since then, Piasecki landed three consecutive scripts on the Black List: “Relay” (formerly “The Broker”), “The Neutral Corner” and “Ballast.” Of those screenplays, “Relay” is currently in post-production. The film is directed by David Mackenzie and stars Riz Ahmed, Sam Worthington and Lily James, with Black Bear and Thunder Road producing. “The Neutral Corner,” about a district court judge who moonlights as a boxing referee, and “Ballast,” a thriller set on a cargo ship, are slated to begin production next year.

In April, Piasecki’s latest original script, the crime thriller “Stakehorse,” was acquired by Amazon in a competitive auction (one of the last major bidding wars for a spec script prior to the WGA strike). The feature, which is being produced by Hidden Pictures, follows a racetrack veterinarian who runs an off-the-books ER for criminals and finds his practice and life in jeopardy when he’s recruited for his patient’s heist.

On the television side, Piasecki is developing an adaptation of the history of the U.S. Federal Witness Protection program, commonly known as WITSEC. He is also writing and will showrun a TV adaptation of Riot Games’ “League of Legends.”

In addition to Range Media Partners, Piasecki continues to be represented by Paradigm Talent Agency and Hansen Jacobson Teller LLP.
