This year is full of surprises for country music fans, but this Randy Travis news might just be the best yet! Without saying a single word, Randy Travis effectively teased new music and sent fans, including fellow country music stars, spiraling with just a quick 16-second video. Days later, Travis officially confirmed he's releasing his first new recording in over a decade!

On TikTok, Travis shared a video of himself in the studio, with seemingly new (to fans at least) music playing in the background. Of course, this prompted speculation among fans that Randy Travis is gearing up to release vault tracks or completely new songs this year. While Travis didn't explicitly announce new music in his first post, the assumption was not completely unfounded, and, of course, turned out to be true!

"The chances are 100% that fans will hear more music from Travis soon, by way of a forthcoming From the Vault album of songs that music fans have never heard before," Randy's wife Mary Travis said during a press conference in August 2023.

Some of the biggest modern country artists jumped in the comments section to share their excitement. "Oh my lord this is going to be incredible," Luke Combs wrote. "I have chills," Cody Johnson said. "👀 so pumped for this," Cole Swindell commented. "Full body chills. I cannot wait for this❤️," Lauren Alaina gushed.

More than 2,000 fans joined the comment swarm alongside these country artists. "RANDY ARE YOU BACK?! This and Johnny Cash’s new album are the greatest news I’ve ever received" and "i did not have this in my bingo card," fans added to the conversation.

Travis posted a second video confirming what we all hoped: new music is coming! Randy Travis is releasing his new song "Where That Came From" on Friday, May 3. He shared a second video on TikTok, including a 36 second clip of the new song. "It’s been a while since my last new recording, but I’m excited to share that this Friday, May 3, I will be releasing my first brand new studio recording in more than a decade, 'Where That Came From,'" he wrote on TikTok.

Since suffering a major stroke in 2013, Aphasia has impacted Randy's voice and mobility, making the confirmation on new music from the artist all the more surprising and exciting. In 2021, Travis released three previously recorded tracks"Carryin' Fire," "Ain't No Use" and "The Wall" from the vault which were new to fans, but not new recordings.

We hope there's more new music from Randy Travis "Where That Came From"!
