The new Rammstein song “Deutschland” and its graphic music video provoked controversy when it came out earlier this year. Now the track has disgruntled an entire town for a very different reason.

The song was left blaring on repeat at the site of the under-construction Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary, causing local residents to lose hours of sleep.

Locals complained after the song played at concert volume over the soccer stadium’s sound system from late Monday into Tuesday morning. The technical error forced the venue’s owners to issue a Facebook apology, according to Euronews.

“There was an unpleasant noise from Monday to Tuesday which was caused by a technical error, according to the contractor,” the translated statement read. “Necessary steps have been taken to ensure that such a case does not happen again. … We apologize to the residents of the surrounding streets for the inconvenience caused.”

Puskás Aréna will be ready by mid-November, per the statement, and at least one thing’s for certain: The sound system works.

The Budapest incident was no fault of Rammstein, though the band never shies away from stirring the pot. The “Deustchland” video was condemned by Jewish leaders over scenes depicting controversial Holocaust imagery when it was unveiled in March.

In July, the band’s guitarists defied Russia’s anti-LGBTQ laws with an onstage kiss in Moscow. Prior to that, frontman Till Lindemann was accused of assaulting a man who called the singer’s female companion a “prostitute.”

Just another routine album cycle for the German industrial metallers, who released their untitled seventh LP in May. The band heads back across Europe for a stadium tour in 2020. Here’s hoping they eventually make a stop at the finished Puskás Aréna to give locals the real deal.
