Ralph Fiennes wants to keep on playing M after 'No Time To Die'

Ralph Fiennes wants to keep on playing M in the James Bond franchise, even though No Time To Die will bring Daniel Craig’s tenure as the beloved 00 agent to an end.

The Oscar nominated star of Schindler’s List and The English Patient made this admission to Games Radar, saying, “If anyone from Eon Films is listening, I'm very keen to continue training the new Bond.”

“I love playing M, and I love being part of that franchise. But who knows? Things have to change. But I love working with Daniel. He's a terrific Bond. I will treasure that experience."

It’s understandable that Fiennes wants to continue to play M, as he has only done so in 2012’s Skyfall and 2015’s Spectre.

Fiennes inherited the role of M, who is the Head of the Secret Intelligence Service, otherwise known as MI6, from Judi Dench, after she had played the character in GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace, and Skyfall.

Of course, Craig’s decision to bid farewell to the Bond franchise has sparked endless speculation about who might replace him in the role. Tom Hardy and Idris Elba are regularly linked to the part, however Bridgerton’s Rege Jean-Page has recently been added to the long list of actors that could succeed Craig, too.

In the meantime, Fiennes can now be seen in The Dig, opposite Carey Mulligan, while No Time To Die is currently scheduled to hit cinemas on October 8, 2021. However, that date could easily change again because of the global pandemic.
