Rajon Rondo posts career-high 25 assists, most in NBA since 1996 (Watch)
Rajon Rondo had a night.
The New Orleans Pelicans point guard did something that hasn’t been done in the NBA in 21 years and posted this bizarre stat line that will likely never be duplicated in the process.
30 minutes, 2 points, 7 rebounds, 25 assists
He did all that in a 128-113 win over the Brooklyn Nets in what may eventually go down as the most Rajon Rondo of Rajon Rondo stat lines.
Obviously, the 25-assists column is what’s remarkable here. It’s a career high for the prolific passer that sets a franchise record with the Pelicans. In case you forgot, Chris Paul played a long time for the Pelicans and held the previous team record with 22 assists.
The last player to log 25 assists was Jason Kidd waaaaaaay back in 1996. For reference, that was the midpoint of Bill Clinton’s stay in the White House.
The NBA put together a highlight reel of his night that you can check out here.
