Raising Cane's celebrates 5 years in West El Paso; Pokeworks introduces lobster bowls

Raising Cane's at West Towne Marketplace is celebrating its fifth anniversary with giveaways and games from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14.

Raising Cane's has served El Pasoans since the first restaurant in the area opened in November 2014. The West Towne Marketplace location, at 6450 North Desert Blvd., opened its doors on Aug. 14, 2018, and marked the brand's fourth restaurant in the area, according to a release.

Raising Cane's will give the first 100 customers in line when the doors open at 10 a.m. a free t-shirt and Box Combo card valid on their next visit.

The franchise also is presenting a check to the University of Texas El Paso Athletic Department as part of its continued support to its education partner. UTEP also will give away three sets of tickets to the university's home opener against the Incarnate Word Cardinals on Saturday, Sept. 2, to the first customers in line.

"As an Official Sponsor for UTEP Athletics, we have always valued our partnership with Raising Cane's, and are excited to celebrate their milestone in the El Paso community," said Ricardo Romero, general manager of Collegiate Services for UTEP. "We are thrilled to maintain this close relationship with our UTEP Athletic community, and we are proud to call them a partner."

Pokeworks franchise adds lobster to menu

Pokeworks restaurants, including the two in El Paso, have introduced a Luxe Lobster Bowl for a limited time.

Franchise representatives say lobster is a rarity in fast-casual restaurants and a great deal at $13.95 for a regular bowl, considering today's increasing food prices.

Efren Zamora, an employee at the Pokeworks on George Dieter, said El Pasoans generally pick the seafood proteins such as ahi tuna and spicy salmon. He expects the seasoned lobster also to do well.

The Luxe Lobster Bowl features North Atlantic lobster with mandarin oranges, fresh-cut veggies and a signature Ponzu sauce over fluffy white rice. Or the shredded lobster can be added as another protein to a custom bowl.
