Raffaella is back. On Tuesday, the CoSign alum announced that her new EP, LIVE, RAFF, LOVE (Act II), will arrive on January 26th, followed by a run of 2024 North American tour dates. She also shared the EP’s lead single, “Man of Your Dreams,” featuring Samia. Stream the song below.
Teaming up with fellow CoSign artist, Samia, for “Man of Your Dreams,” Raffaella shows that her observational approach to songcraft has stayed strong since 2022’s LIVE, RAFF, LOVE (Act I). With lyrics serving as a prayer of sorts, the tune dissects the notion of “femininity” projected onto women, specifically female artists in the music industry.
“This is a couple of secular city girls, with an unfounded curiosity for religion, singing as postulants for the holy order that is the Music Industry,” Raffaella said in a statement. “Everything we say is a joke that we take seriously; our request that Mother Mary make us funnier and prettier is as impossible as the interminable expectations of femininity and all of its falsified ideals — we are praying as sincerely as we are trying. Favors, funding, patience, forgiveness, humor, beauty, selflessness… it’s a lot to ask for but it’s also something that we both really want to be able to provide.”
Going further, Raffaella expanded on the song’s targeting of the music industry, and highlighted why she and Samia wanted to explore the themes in a song. “As women in the music industry, it can feel like we have to be as good and as resilient as Jesus Christ — which is okay sometimes, as long as you can make fun of the insane standards with language that is as hyperbolic as it is honest,” she wrote. “It would be nice to be the man of your dreams. We just kinda wanted to see what it’d feel like to be able to make that promise out loud.” Watch the music video for the song below.
“Man of Your Dreams” will join five other songs on LIVE, RAFF, LOVE (Act II), which will hit shelves on January 26th via Mom + Pop. Pre-orders are ongoing.
After the arrival of LIVE, RAFF, LOVE (Act II), Raffaella will follow-up with a 10-date tour that’ll kick off in New York next February. Fans can register for pre-sale access here before general sale begins this Friday, October 13th.
