Radio Coffee & Beer opened a Southeast Austin location in mid-October.

Radio Coffee & Beer opened last week in Southeast Austin, adding another dining and drinking option to the evolving industrial area that has added Pinthouse Brewing and Meanwhile Brewing Co. in recent years.

This is the second location for the beer, live music and coffee specialists that opened their first location almost a decade ago on Menchaca Road.

Here’s what you need to know about the new location of Radio Coffee & Beer.

Where is Radio Coffee & Beer located?

The bar is located at 3504 Montopolis Drive near Texas 71.

What is it near?

The area is already fertile ground for the food and beverage scene. Fierce Whiskers is located about a mile away, as is the Meanwhile Brewing Co. compound, which includes food trucks Side Eye Pie, Distant Relatives, Song Bird, Pueblo Viejo and Bésame. Pinthouse Brewing is two miles away.

Same things to drink?

The new location will offer cocktails, craft beer, wine and coffee, just like the original Menchaca Road location of Radio Coffee & Beer in South Austin. The coffee program is expanding to include single-origin espresso options along with their classic Bluegrass Blend, from their own RCB Roasters, and there will be eight craft draft beer taps and four specialty rotating cocktails on tap. The larger space also means more service options, including two windows that open to the bar’s backyard.

Does this one have food trucks, too?

Radio hosts some of the best-in-class food trucks, with Veracruz All Natural serving tacos, Shortwave Diner on the burgers and brunchy options, and the new by-the-slice pizza operation from Side Eye Pie.

What's the space like?

As with the original, Radio in Southeast Austin is built in an old house, but there's even more outdoor space.

OK, parking … ?

Parking at the original can be trying. (Get on your bikes or hoof it, neighbors.) That isn't a problem at the new location, which offers an entire acre of parking. Sounds like a lot.

And, tunes? Will there be tunes?

Radio is increasing the number of live music offerings, and the larger space will also allow them the opportunity to schedule national touring acts.

What are the hours of operation?

Radio East is open 7 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
