Hollywood and members of the Euphoria ensemble cast have taken to social media to pay tribute to Angus Cloud, who passed away at 25.

The Euphoria star’s family announced the news in a statement on Monday, noting: “Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

Cloud rose to fame on the hit HBO series, which shined a light on his character Fez’s backstory in its second season. The lovable drug dealer served as an anchor for Zendaya’s Rue and her friends, including Lexi (Maude Apatow), who became the character’s love interest.

In addition to Euphoria, Cloud was recently cast in an untitled monster thriller from Universal. He also had roles in upcoming films Your Lucky Day and Freaky Tales. He finished filming on both the Universal pic and Your Lucky Day, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed; the former has a release date for Aug. 19, 2024.

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson shared a statement with THR, saying, “There was no one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon. He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family.”

Zendaya said “words are not enough to describe the infinite beauty” of her co-star, writing in her social media tribute: “I’m so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh (I’m smiling now just thinking of it). I know people use this expression often when talking about folks they love…’they could light up any room they entered’ but boy let me tell you, he was the best at it. I’d like to remember him that way. For all of the boundless light, love and joy he always managed to give us. I’ll cherish every moment.”

Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard, said Cloud was an “open soul, with the kindest heart, writing on Instagram: “You filled every room with laughter,” she wrote. “This is the hardest thing ive ever had to post, and im struggling to find all the words. You will be missed more than you know, but I’m so blessed to have known you in this lifetime, and I’m sure everyone who has ever met you feels the same. This heartache is real and I wish we could’ve had one more hug and 711 run. All my love is with you.”

Javon Walton, the onscreen adoptive younger brother to Cloud’s character, Ashtray, shared a photo of the pair hugging with the words, “rest easy brother,” and a heart and dove emoji. He also posted a photo of them in his Stories, writing, “forever family.”

Mason Shea Joyce, who plays a young Fez on Euphoria, also shared a remembrance of Cloud with THR: “Angus had a really sweet smile and generous soul. He was kind and supportive, never too busy for a quick chat or pep talk. It was an honor to play young Fezco.”

Euphoria co-star Colman Domingo shared a selfie Cloud took of the cast at a photo call for the series. He wrote, “And that was his smile. That was him. May he rest sweetly in peace.” He also shared a photo of the pair with co-star Jacob Elordi on his Stories, writing, “Couldn’t be more real, original and sweet. Loved this kid. Always smiles. I hope his sensitive soul is at rest. Check on loved ones. Check on them.”

Storm Reid, Rue’s sister Gia, shared a video to her Instagram Story of Cloud’s Fez singing “Stand By Me” in Euphoria season two and captioned it “the tears just won’t stop.”

Alexa Demie, who plays high schooler Maddy, shared a broken heart emoji in her Stories, while Eric Dane, who plays the father to Elordi’s character, shared in his Stories a photo of Cloud writing, “He was a one off. I’m truly sad.”

Chloe Cherry, who plays Faye in season two of the series, posted a photo with Cloud to her Instagram Story and wrote, “Miss you bro.”

And Drake, an executive producer on the A24 series, shared a photo of Cloud on his Stories, writing, “Good soul,” also with the dove emoji. A24 also shared a tribute post to Twitter.

The official Euphoria Twitter account shared HBO’s statement: “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”

Others also posted tributes to Cloud.

“Please remember how loved you are,” Rachel Zegler wrote on Twitter. “This world is so quick to make you feel otherwise. there are reasons to stick around. and this world needs you. oh, angus. we celebrate you.”
