Rachel Zegler has issued an apology on Twitter following backlash to her dramatic reading of Britney Spears' note to her sister Jamie Lynn Spears. The monologue was heavily criticized for being disrespectful to Britney, who is dealing with her family's complete lack of support following the end of her oppressive conservatorship.

Rachel has since issued an apology, explaining that she's a huge fan of Britney and that she didn't mean any disrespect. She also thanked her followers for holding her accountable.

"Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Britney and am rooting for her always," she said in a two-part tweet written on Monday evening. "While I meant no disrespect whatsoever, I should have thought about how this could be perceived, and I’m so sorry for upsetting or disappointing anyone. This is not a situation to be taken lightly, and we should all be lifting Britney up in this pivotal time. Thanks for hearing me out, and a big thank you to all who held me accountable."

Britney hasn't commented on Rachel's dramatic reading of her note, which was in regards to her sister Jamie Lynn writing a memoir that is allegedly full of inaccuracies. Jamie Lynn and Britney have been trading open letters over the past few days about the memoir (titled Things I Should Have Said), and many fans are wondering why Jamie Lynn chose this moment to write about her sister, who's finally gotten her life back after years of abuse at the hands of her conservatorship.
