R.I.P. Robyn Bernard, General Hospital’s Terry Brock

Robyn Bernard, best known for her role as General Hospital’s Terry Brock, died yesterday in San Jacinto, CA. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department confirmed her death, reporting that her body was found in an open field in San Jacinto. Per People, authorities say foul play is not suspected. She was 64.

In 1984, Bernard took on the role of Terry Brock on the long-running daytime soap opera General Hospital. During that time, her character was witness to numerous murders, including overhearing the shooting of her father, D.L., played by David Groh. Across six years and more than 140 episodes, the character would be framed for murder, watch her future husband strangle someone, and be gaslit by a fake librarian. She also killed her husband with a rock to the head, causing him to fall off a cliff. Later, Brock developed a drinking problem that negatively affected her music career. The character exited the show on positive terms, securing a record contract and saying goodbye to Port Charles.

Born in Gladewater, Texas, on May 26, 1959, Bernard began performing at church, singing gospel songs with her younger sister Crystal Bernard, who starred as Helen Chappel on Wings.

Bernard began her television career in 1983, landing guest spots on Simon & Simon, Whiz Kids, and The Facts Of Life. She also collaborated with French director Jean-Jacques Beineix on 1981’s Diva, 1986’s Betty Blue, which was nominated for Best Foreign Language at the 1987 Oscars, and 1989’s Roselyne And The Lions.

She didn’t act much after General Hospital, appearing in an episode of the French series Maigret and the 1997 comedy Kings For A Day. Her last role came in 2002’s Voices From High School.
