R. Kelly’s daughter has broken her silence in regards to the sexual abuse allegations against her father, saying she has not had a relationship with the singer in years. “I do apologize if my silence to all that is happening comes off as careless,” Buku Abi wrote in a series of Instagram posts on Thursday. “That is my last intention. I pray for all the families & women who have been affected by my father’s actions. Trust, I have been deeply affected by all of this.” Accusations of sexual misconduct and abuse on the part of the R&B singer were resurfaced last week with the premiere of the six-part docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly,” which featured detailed accusations from some of Kelly’s alleged victims and former associates. Several of the singer’s former collaborators have since come forward to speak out against him and renounce their association with Kelly, while the singer himself has denied any wrongdoing. Nor do I speak on him or on his behalf,” she wrote, going on to add, “I would never want anyone to feel the pain I have felt.” Abi asked that her followers not ask her and her family to speak out further against Kelly, saying that it “does not help my family (Me, my sister, my brother, and my mother) in our healing process.
