R. Kelly Accused Of Breaking Rules In Jail, Secretly Communicating With Others
Prosecutors are accusing R. Kelly of violating the rules while locked up and attempting to secretly communicate with people without it being monitored by officials.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, prosecutors are firing back at Kelly’s recent motion in his criminal case.
Kelly is demanding to know the identities of two “Jane Does” listed in his criminal indictment. He argues without the names he can’t build his defense. In his motion, he argued he is no danger and has no resources to harass or intimidate the alleged victims.
His lawyers wrote, “At the time of his arrest Mr. Kelly was living in a small condominium, working with his longtime producer, without other employees of note, and effectively without any income. He had no “enterprise” as the government likes to call his career and his business, RSK Enterprises.”
Further, he argued, “As noted above, Mr. Kelly remains in custody at the federal jail in Chicago. All of his phone calls are monitored. All of his mail is monitored. Other than legal counsel his only visitor is his girlfriend, Joycelyn. He simply has no means or method by which to engage in any obstructive conduct.”

Nelly’s Alleged Sexual Assault Victim Accuses Rapper of Intimidation in Legal Battle
In newly filed documents, prosecutors trash Kelly’s motion and lay it all out. They say he has a history of intimidating and threatening alleged victims. Prosecutors point out a letter was written to one of his alleged victims threatening to release nude photos of her.
They say Kelly argues he can’t read or write but they say that doesn’t stop him from having others write it for him. They say, “His literacy difficulties, of course, do not mean that the defendant is incapable of directing others to draft a threatening letter on his behalf or of being informed of and approving its specific contents.”
Prosecutors say they are in possession of a video showing Kelly “rehearsing exactly what he wanted the woman to say in response to questions about the origin of their relationship for the purpose of having her mimic the answers.”
In regard to Kelly’s claim he is harmless from behind bars, prosecutors believe otherwise. They say Kelly phone calls and mail are monitored. However, they accuse him of having taken deliberate steps “steps on multiple occasions to bypass these safeguards. “
One incident included, “In November 2019, the defendant, in contravention of prison regulations, used an intermediary to smuggle a letter a third party wrote to him into the detention center where he is currently housed. The letter was marked “Legal” – in an attempt to avoid inspection of the correspondence – and was provided to the defendant during a legal visit by an attorney who is not one of the defendant’s attorneys of record in this case (the “Attorney”) during a visit with the Attorney. Again, it is clear, despite the defendant’s claims to the contrary, that he has methods of passing messages between himself and his confederates with no evidence of visits or telephone calls between them.”
Prosecutors accuse Kelly of even avoiding having his phone calls monitored by using a jail official’s cell phone.
They write, “These incidents demonstrate that the defendant has sought out, and likely will continue to seek out, clandestine means of communication. It also demonstrates that the defendant has, at his disposal, individuals willing to assist him in bypassing the traditional methods used to monitor the defendant’s communications while incarcerated. In these circumstances, the defendant’s attempt to paint himself as being completely isolated from the outside world and unable to communicate without monitoring such that obstructive conduct would be impossible is simply not credible.”
Prosecutors even revealed new details of his Aaliyah marriage, in an attempt to make their argument.
They are demanding Kelly be shut down.
