Paramount Pictures has dropped a brand new trailer for its summer epic A Quiet Place: Day One, which serves as a prequel to the world established by John Krasinski in A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II, which Krasinski starred in alongside Emily Blunt.

Krasinski serves as producer on the new film but has passed on the director torch to Michael Sarnoski, who also wrote the screenplay from a story the duo share co-creation credits on.

A Quiet Place: Day One is keeping its cards close to its chest as all we know beyond the trailers is that it stars Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff and Djimon Hounsou and will document "the day the world went quiet".

The new trailer, like the first trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One, does little to divulge any further info but does build on the established tension the films have become known for.

Here, we build on the terrifying takeover that has descended upon the world and uncover the origin of the silence.

In tandem with the trailer, Paramount has released a brand-new poster with Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn front and center as destruction rains down on New York City.

A Quiet Place: Day One will be in theaters, Dolby Cinema and IMAX from June 28.
