Quentin Tarantino’s Favorite Movies to Watch While Flying
On The Late Show, director Quentin Tarantino sat down with Stephen Colbert to talk about — wait for it — movies! Colbert’s simple question, “Do you like all kinds of movies, or are there some styles you don’t like — like, do you watch rom-coms or anything like that?” launched the auteur into a confession about how he does indeed enjoy a rom-com, especially the work of Kate Hudson and especially, especially, when he’s flying (and he managed to squeeze in that he flies first class, no big deal). One film that he particularly enjoyed — which may not fit your idea of a film Mr. Tarantino would watch, never mind defend to a group of film critics — was You’ve Got Mail. But he wasn’t in it for the Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks quirky romance so much as for the statement it made on large chain stores taking over mom-and-pop shops.
