Quentin Tarantino’s final movie will not be The Movie Critic.

The director previously stated his intent to retire after what would be his tenth and last film, but now he’s apparently reversed course.

According to a report by Deadline, Tarantino abandoned production after changing his mind. The Movie Critic was set to take place in the ‘70s universe of his last film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and follow a writer whose reviews were a cross between "early Howard stern and what what Travis Bickle [Robert DeNiro’s character in Taxi Driver] might be if he were a film critic."

Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio would also reprise their roles. However, after numerous rewrites throughout 2023, Tarantino’s decided to drop the project and move on.

That’s not to say he won’t revisit it down the line. The director has pivoted in the past, whether it’s reneging on his idea for Kill Bill 3, or returning to The Hateful Eight after initially shelving it in the wake of a script leak.
