Quentin Grimes reportedly joins fellow Houston guard DeJon Jarreau in Celtics pre-draft workouts

The Boston Celtics have evidently been keeping busy on the predraft workout front, with Forbes Sports’ Chris Grenham reporting that Houston Cougars guard Quentin Grimes worked out with the team today, joining his teammate DeJon Jarreau in Boston’s pre-2021 NBA draft proceedings.

While also not a lock to be drafted, Grimes is less of a fringy prospect anticipated to go in the mid- to late second round, right about where the Celtics will be picking with the 45th overall pick. A 6-foot-5 shooting guard who logged 17.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game with the Cougars in 2020-21, Grimes shot the 3-ball 40.3% as a junior with Houston.

With a solid if imperfect shooting form and good defensive fundamentals, the biggest knock against the Texas native is his age at 21 years old.

He’d be a very solid pickup for Boston at No. 45 if still on the board, and certainly a player to watch for the Celtics if they keep their pick.
